Downtown Tacoma

Downtown Tacoma is amazing!  With six world-class museums, a thriving Theater District, an Antique Row on Broadway, and Pacific Avenue, lined with shops and restaurants, there is always something to see or do!

In Downtown Tacoma, nearly everything is withing walking distance or a short ride, on the Light Rail Link.

The Museum District in Downtown Tacoma includes the Tacoma Art Museum, the Museum of Glass, America’s Car Museum, Washington State History Museum, the Children’s Museum and the Foss Waterway Seaport Museum.  These museums exhibit art, from the American West and PNW artists, history, both maritime and automobile, include a hot shop where you can watch glass artists, and see the power of play.

tacoma operaThe Pantages and The Rialto both opened in 1918, and are part of the Theater District, along with Theater on the Square, that opened in 1993. As a season ticket holder to the Tacoma Opera, I have attended many performances at The Pantages and The Rialto.

Pacific Avenue may be the heart of Downtown Tacoma. Everything from the University of Washington campus, to gourmet cupcakes can be found here.  Stocklist and Urban Xchange, clothing boutiques, the Harmon Brewery Company, and the Pacific Grill and my favorite, Indochine, are fabulous restaurants.

And dine in style and then stay the night at the beautifully restored McMenamins Elks Temple

With condos, apartments, and lofts, there is a variety of housing to rent or purchase

The Metropolitan has gorgeous apartments to rent.
