Although the South End and South Tacoma would seem to be the same neighborhood, they are not.
Each area has its own Neighborhood Council, the South End Neighborhood Council and the South Tacoma Neighborhood Council, plus South Tacoma has a very active business district council.
The South End is bounded to the north by I-5, to the east by Pacific Avenue and along East 72nd Street where it completes its eastern boundary, and uses Tacoma’s city limits at South 96th Street as its southern boundary. The South End borders the Eastside at Pacific Avenue, see a larger map of the South End.
South Tacoma includes SR-16 and Center Street as its northern boundary, I-5 to the east, Tacoma’s city limits at South 80th Street as its southern boundary and Tacoma’s city limits along Orchard Street as its western boundary.

I have included a fun video about the South Tacoma Business District, with art work, hanging baskets, two great community events and lots of restaurants it is the center piece of the neighborhood.
South Tacoma Community Events:
The Tacoma Jazz & Blues Festival is held in July, with a day of live jazz and blues performances on three stages. Along with live music, the festival features a beer garden, plenty of ethnic food, and local bars stay open late to keep the party going.
The South Tacoma Classic Car Show cannot be missed. August 2019 will mark the 22nd Annual Classic Car Show! Showcasing vintage cars, more than 300 vehicles will be on display. Listen to music, chat with vendors and enjoy some great food while surrounded by some really fine cars.
